History
Mo Gan Huang Ya (Mogan Yellow Bud) comes from Moganshan (Mount Mogan) in Zhejiang province, a scenic area known for its bamboo forests and cool mountain air. This yellow tea is one of the rarest in production, with very few tea masters still practicing the traditional yellowing technique in this region. The cool mountain climate and bamboo-forest environment give the tea a uniquely fresh, clean character.
Processing
Young buds are pan-fired and then undergo a gentle yellowing process. The proximity to bamboo forests is said to influence the tea's fresh, clean character. Production is very small-scale and largely artisanal.
