Fujian
Fujian is the homeland of oolong tea, white tea, and jasmine-scented teas - coastal mountains and centuries of refinement produce some of China's most prized leaves.
Fujian province on China's southeast coast is one of the most important tea-producing regions in the world, responsible for inventing and perfecting multiple tea categories. The Wuyi Mountains in northern Fujian are the birthplace of oolong tea and produce yancha (rock teas) - heavily oxidized, charcoal-roasted leaves grown on rocky cliff faces that impart a unique mineral character known as yan yun (rock charm). Famous Wuyi yancha include Da Hong Pao (Big Red Robe), Rou Gui (Cinnamon), and Shui Xian. South of Wuyi, the Anxi region developed the lighter, greener style of Tieguanyin (Iron Goddess of Mercy) oolong. Fujian is also the original home of white tea - Bai Mu Dan and Silver Needle come from Fuding and Zhenghe counties - and the world center of jasmine tea production, where green tea is scented over many nights with fresh jasmine blossoms.
Tea types: Green Tea (1), Black Tea (5), Oolong Tea (6), White Tea (13).
