Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka's highest tea district, produces the lightest and most fragrant Ceylon black teas.

Nuwara Eliya, in the central highlands of Sri Lanka at elevations above 1,800 m, produces the most delicate and elegant Ceylon teas. The cool climate, often referred to as 'little England', yields teas with a bright, fragrant, almost champagne-like character. Nuwara Eliya teas are typically lighter in color and body than other Ceylon teas, with floral and citrus notes. The region's tea estates date back to the 19th century when coffee blight devastated Sri Lanka's coffee industry and tea was planted as a replacement.

Tea types: Black Tea (1), White Tea (1).
